What’s New At Kilcullen Optician and Kilcullen.
Here at Nichola C. Kennedy FAOI Optometrist, Kilcullen (aka Kilcullen Optician) 2020 got off to a good start. We welcomed Eithne Spillane, Optometrist, to our team. And Maura was back from her lovely holiday in Australia before Christmas. Then Coronavirus struck!
Yet again, however, Kilcullen has risen to the challenge! Businesses in the town pivoted to meet their customers needs under new restrictions of social distancing, self isolating and cocooning. Kilcullen Community Action pulled together a group of volunteers in association with An Garda who are available to assist any isolated person in a time of need. If you are self isolating, cocooning or quarantined as a result of the coronavirus and you need help or provisions, and your normal help is not available you can call the Garda Mobile number 086-8582822. The responding Garda will contact the local volunteer group and help will be provided as soon as possible.
In the case of an emergency please do not use the above number as it is NOT an emergency or medical service.
If emergency or medical support is needed please use 999/112.
- Kilcullen First Responders
It is also important to tell you that Kilcullen First Responders along with all Community First Responder Units across the country were stood down for the duration of the emergency as a result coronavirus. So please familiarise yourselves with the location of AEDs (defibrillators) in the town.
- Eurospar Main Street Front Door
- Kilcullen Community Centre
- Kilcullen Credit Union
- Kilcullen GAA, but it is only accessible when the GAA club is open
- CPC and Scoil Bhride also have AEDs but again only accessible when buildings are open.
Keep Kilcullen in Business by Keeping Your Business in Kilcullen!
So, Spring arrived while we were distracted by CoVid 19 and it would usually be a time where we are looking forward to summer, updating our wardrobe of clothes to brighter colours, lighter fabrics, and longer, brighter, warmer days…. hopefully ….
So if you were thinking of shopping local for some summer clothes maybe for your holidays, a new book or 3 to pop in the suitcase, or a fabulous new pair of prescription sunglasses, maybe consider buying gift vouchers from the businesses that are closed temporarily in the town as a result of coronavirus. Gift vouchers are also great presents for the many occasions that will come and go without celebrations for now, such as birthdays, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Engagements, etc. You will be supporting the businesses by helping them with their cashflow in tough times and ensuring that they will be there for you when we all get back to normal.
Business’ trading situations at the moment are changing so quickly with CoVid 9 that it is a good idea to find the businesses on social media or follow Brian Byrne’s local diary https://kilcullenbridge.blogspot.com for updates, plus social media can be used as another mode of communication with the businesses.
Our social media channels are:
We also do a printed version as we appreciate that not everyone is on social media.
In the meantime, try and enjoy this interlude in life that is coronavirus. The slower pace enforced on us is going to bring us all back to basics which is a good thing. Read the books, take the walks, get back in touch with nature, and just slow down. I wonder is Mother Nature trying to tell us something? Is this nature’s way?
